Our admission requirements
We admit people in recognised training or education in Munich:
The accommodation is provided as a place in a student / youth residence within the meaning of § 549 (3) BGB
for the purpose of education and training. The rotation principle applies.
The provisions named in § 549 (3) BGB (in particular §§ 573, 575 BGB)
do not apply.
Students of Munich universities
(especially LMU, TUM and FH),
enrolled and under 27 years of age.
- Munich university
e.g. TUM, FH, LMU, University of Music or
Private universities: bachelor's and master's programmes only
- Maximum age 27
- Student ID no older than 6 months
Please note: No DAAD students. Further information from DAAD, which does not accept our forms.
Required:
- Student ID of a Munich university
- Passport
If you do not have a student ID yet...,
that is usually not a problem, because the student ID is not required at reservation, only when you
move in. So if you want to change university, you can still reserve if you
are sure that you can present the student ID or comparable proof
at the latest when you move in.
Contracts are always limited to one semester. An extension is usually
possible if you are then still enrolled – but must be requested in time (no later than 80 days
before the end of the tenancy).
Interns / diploma students
Interns / diploma students who, as part of their studies at any university (including foreign universities), do an internship in Munich.
The maximum tenancy for interns is 8 months. Age is limited to 30 years.
- University (worldwide) (including German universities of applied sciences)

- Internship, master's thesis or doctoral thesis in Munich (or surrounding area)
Required:
- Student ID (any university) from at least the last semester
- Internship contract, diploma-student contract or similar from a company in Munich
- Passport
Apprentices / trainees (master craftsman trades)
Apprentices in a recognised vocational training that can lead to a Meister (master craftsman) after the journeyman exam
(crafts, industry and comparable chamber professions). This puts master-track apprenticeships on the same footing as students:
living here is tied to proof of ongoing training in the Munich area.
- Age 16 up to and including 25
- Apprenticeship contract with a company in Munich or the surrounding area
- Compulsory vocational school / documented vocational-school attendance
- The target group is people in training – not those who have already completed the master qualification.
The rotation principle applies here too: anyone who has already finished or dropped out of training
must move out to make room for new apprentices.
The tenancy is concluded for a maximum of 8 months at a time.
An extension is possible if, in good time (no later than 80 days before the end of the tenancy), you present:
- current letter from the employer (apprenticeship is continuing)
- latest vocational-school report or current performance record from the vocational school
Required:
- Apprenticeship contract (company / chamber)
- current letter from the employer
- latest vocational-school report (if already available; otherwise current proof of vocational-school attendance)
- Passport or national ID card
Minors (16 / 17 years): additionally written consent of the legal guardians to the tenancy agreement.
A small note: there are currently many students in the houses. Daily rhythms are different – it can get loud in the evenings.
Even though our house rules require quiet hours, conflicts between tenants can still occur.
If you especially need quiet, consider whether a student residence is the right place for you.
